Give Us A Break is a charity run by volunteers in and around Wolverhampton established to provide activities for children and young people with severe and complex learning difficulties. Parents can bring their children to activities that are appropriate to their needs and talk to other parents while their children enjoy themselves in a safe environment. Brothers and sisters are welcome to join in.

Please be aware booking systems have now changed. Please make all bookings via email to , or through the paypal link to make payments in advance. If you would prefer to make a bank transfer please email us at the email address above for these details. You will need to email and state how many people you are booking and onto which activities. Some activities require booking in advance in order to secure a place.


Parents/Carers are responsible for their child/young person/s at all times. This includes siblings that come along to join in – they are most welcome to do so but need to be supervised and we cannot do this for you.

We NEED you to let us have an emergency contact name and telephone number in case anything happens to you during an activity. Either email us or let us have a generic ICE number at your next activity. A Carers Emergency Card is a wonderful idea as well! We will also now be requesting an event specific ICE contact at each event.

Please ensure when you are attending our activities that you do not arrive earlier than the start times, as activities will not be set up and we are not covered on the premises to have families until the time stated on the program. The exception to this will be swimming where someone will be there 10 minutes before the start time to sign you in due to changing time before the session. Where possible we will now be locking venues until the start time and you will need to wait. We understand that waiting is an issue for most our children so please make sure you factor this into consideration when you set out travelling to the venues and activities.

When arriving at activities please ensure you complete the signing in form fully, this includes an emergency telephone number and photograph consent. With regards to photo consent, if this is not completed then it will be presumed you give consent for photos to be taken and shared on our facebook page and to funders of events and activities. If you employ carers to bring children to the activities please ensure that they know whether you give consent for your child to be photographed and that they have your number ready to complete on this form.

At activities please make sure you have a safe adult to child ratio for the activity you attend as your child/ren and young people are parent/carers responsibilities at all times. If we do not feel there is a safe adult to child ratio then we will be contact you individually. You may even be asked to leave the activity if we have safety concerns. We have to think of the safety of all children and young people who attend and we do not have staffing to provide care for the children and young people who attend.

GUAB committee will not tolerate any aggressive or disrespectful behaviour from parents/carers. We are all here to support one another and help share advice and information, along with having a fun time with children. If there are any discrepancies during a session please either discuss this with a committee member or you can email us afterwards. We are a charity who supports children and young people right the way to age 25 years, with a variety of complex disabilities, therefore we are aware that there are differing techniques and strategies to help support the children and young people.

Monday 18th February – Worcester Snoezelen

Snoezelen – Turnpike Close, Worcester, WR26AB – 11am to 2pm 

A large multi-sensory roomed centre which includes soft play, Omni mats, outside area and hydro pool for private family/group use.

Donation: £7 per person with hydro pool or £5 per person without, with 1 carer per disabled child / young person free. Payment and booking at least 72 hours in advance, but get in early as this event often sells out, particularly the pool slots. Please state while booking how many pool slots are needed. A maximum of 8 swimming slots available per session, these will be allocated on a first booked priority basis.

Tuesday 19th February – NEW ACTIVITY – Trampolining!


Boing-Zone Stourbridge, Mill Race Lane, Stourbridge, DY8 1JN – 10.50am prompt till 12pm

This is a fully interactive session involving trampolining, ball pit, climbing wall, battle beam and dodge ball.

Please arrive by 10.50am latest for sign in and the compulsory safety briefing. There is a cafe and viewing gallery on site. 

Important – you are required to watch the safety video and sign a waiver before entering the arena. A minimum of one responsible adult is required in the jumping arena for each child / young person. The waiver will be emailed to you on or after the 14th of February.

Donation : £6 per person but one carer / responsible adult goes free with each child / young person with GUAB. Booking and payment by 14th February

Thursday 21st February – Royal School Swimming


Royal School Swimming, Penn Road, Wolverhampton, WV3 0EG – 1.30pm to 2.30pm

This is a swimming pool session exclusive to the use of Give Us A Break families. You can arrive from 1.20pm.

Please note – to ensure adequate levels of care, you must ensure that there is one responsible adult in the pool per disabled child / young person or family group.

Cost: £3 per person but one carer / adult per disabled child / young person goes free, payable in advance or on the day. Booking advised but not essential.

Friday 22nd February Brickkiln Centre

Brickiln Centre – Cherry Street, Wolverhampton, WV3 0QW – 10.30am to 12.30pm

A centre which has a sensory room, main hall and outside area. With Messy Play!

Donation: £2 per child/young person, payable in advance or on the day. Booking advised but not essential.
